Advocacy – Its Our Responsibility
The Spartanburg County Medical Society advocates on behalf of its members and their patients. As a member, you can get involved in advocacy in a variety of ways:

  1. Learn about current and pending health care legislation.
  2. Know and contact your delegates and representatives regarding legislation.
  3. Attend a SCMS event to learn about advocacy and meet your delegates.
  4. Most importantly, know your rights.

Spartanburg County Medical Society Political Action Committee (SCMSPAC)

We have recently implemented our own SCMSPAC fund to support local delegates that support the mission and goals of physicians that practice in Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union counties. Dr. Fritz Butehorn was appointed Chairman of the committee that oversees the collection and distribution of the donations made to local delegates serving in our area. Dr. Brice Dille, Dr. Shannelle Campbell, Dr. Rob McDonald, Dr. Larry Ware and Dr. Aaron Toler all serve on this committee. We encourage all physicians in our area to make a donation to this PAC. Supporting our local PAC will go a long way in protecting the rights of physicians.
